Quinn is a Canadian football player, who is set to become the first Transgender person and Non-Binary footballer to feature at a FIFA World Cup. They are already a part of Canada’s playing squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Quinn currently plays as a midfielder for National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team OL Reign in the United States of America.

Quinn came out as a transgender person and non-binary person in the year 2020. In 2021, at the Tokyo Olympics, Quinn became the first out-transgender, non-binary athlete to compete at the Olympics. Quinn subsequently became the first to win a medal and also the first to a gold medal as they helped Canada secure an Olympic Gold Medal in Women’s Football.

They became the first openly Trans and Non-Binary person to play in the World Cup as they took to the field for Canada. They played against Nigeria and the match ended in a goalless draw. However, Quinn made history and their debut is seen as a victory for all trans and non-binary athletes worldwide.

Quinn is a professional football player. They are Canadian and were born “Rebecca Quinn.” They play as a midfielder for American Women’s side OL Reign in the NWSL. Quinn also is an Olympic Gold Medallist. They are an important lynchpin for the Canadian Women’s football team. Quinn has 89 appearances for Canada and has scored 5 times.

Quinn is from Canada. They were born on 11 August 1995 in Toronto, Canada. Quinn was named “Rebecca Quinn” and was assigned an identity of a female post their birth. They were born to Bill and Linda Quinn. Quinn made their gender status as trans and non-binary known to the world in 2020. They also dropped “Rebecca” from their name.

Quinn started learning football at the tender age of 6. They featured for local academies before representing Canada at u-17 level in 2012. They subsequently featured for Canada U-20 and Canada U-23 before making their senior debut in 2014. Quinn attended Duke College and played football for the Duke Blue Devils. They were the first Canadians to play for the Blue Devils. Quinn earned Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Midfielder of the Year honors at Duke. They eventually decided to get drafted to the NWSL.

Quinn became the highest-drafted Canadian in NWSL history when they were selected third overall by the Washington Spirit in the 2018 NWSL College Draft. They spent their rookie year at Spirit before moving to Europe to play for Paris FC in 2018. Quinn spent 1 season there. They relocated back to the USA the next season and signed with their current club, OL Reign. Quinn was an important figure in the Canadian women’s triumph of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Gold Medal. They started all games in the tournament.

Quinn looks set to continue their playing career.  They are only 27 years as of 2023 and entering the prime period of their career. They would look to continue their performances for their club and help Canada achieve titles on the international level. Off the field, Quinn continues to be an important figure for all trans and non-binary athletes around the globe.
