‘For me to rematch Vera, he’ll have to be on a win streak’ – Sean O’Malley on a possible rematch against Marlon Vera

‘For me to rematch Vera, he’ll have to be on a win streak’ – Sean O’Malley on a possible rematch against Marlon Vera
Sean O’Malley

Sean O’Malley was on a roll, before he was stopped by Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera at UFC 252. The hippie American, faced his first defeat at the hands of the Ecuadorian when he was knocked out in the very first round, only to be diagnosed with drop foot after being kicked in the peroneal nerve by Marlon, which weakened him in the course of the fight.

Speaking of this in his own YouTube channel, Sean O’Malley claimed that Marlon Vera is nowhere close to the level he (O’Malley) is at. He also added that, he wouldn’t even think of fighting Marlon Vera again, if Vera doesn’t go on a hot win streak. (Shouldn’t it be the reverse, since it was Marlon Vera who defeated Sean O’Malley?)

“I feel like I’m just a different level fighter” – Sean O’Malley

Sean O’Malley was quoted as saying, “For me to rematch (Vera), he’ll have to be on a win streak. It’ll have to make sense. “I feel like I’m just a different level fighter. That would be like fighting someone backwards. He said there’s not enough money in the world to fight me again. But dude, if he loses another fight and he’s like, ‘I want to fight Sean.’ He’s about to be Chito ‘Prelim’ Vera.”

Sean O’Malley is yet to return to the octagon, since the Marlon Vera fight. He will be looking forward to breaking into the top 15 of the UFC bantamweight rankings. Marlon Vera, on the other hand, took on UFC veteran Jose Aldo, after stopping Sugar Sean, ultimately losing via. unanimous decision.

Will we ever see a ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley vs Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera rematch?
