Novak Djokovic’s hopes of winning a record 25th Grand Slam singles title have been questioned by former ATP player Tim Henman. The former British No.1 doesn’t see the Serbian legend winning a Slam anytime soon because of the ongoing dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner on tour.
Djokovic currently holds a staggering record of 24 Grand Slams, and is considered the greatest male tennis player of all time. He has won all the titles that the sport could offer, particularly the big titles. The 38-year-old is the winner of 10 Australian Open titles, three French Open titles, seven Wimbledon titles, four US Open titles, and one Olympic gold medal.
Also, he’s the only man in the history of the men’s circuit to win every major title on at least three separate occasions. However, Djokovic hasn’t won a single Grand Slam for over two years, with his 24th major coming at the 2023 US Open, after defeating former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev in the final.
Alcaraz and Sinner have been dominating the men’s circuit since then and haven’t given any player any chance of winning a Grand Slam. Both players have won the last eight major tournaments. Also, they have reached the final of the last three Grand Slams and are considered favorites to reach the final in Melbourne.
Nonetheless, Djokovic has not hidden his intentions of winning a 25th Slam on tour. But Tim Henman believes that the Serbian legend is likely not going to win the record major title. The former British No.1 revealed during a conversation on The Tennis podcast that Alcaraz and Sinner won’t give Djokovic a chance to do so:
He could make another Grand Slam final, but I think he relies on someone else beating Alcaraz or Sinner. It will be interesting to see what happens with his ranking, his seeding, whether he has to play one of those, Alcaraz or Sinner, in the quarters, or if he is protected and would play them in the semis. But I just think it’s the physicality, the recovery when you get older, it certainly doesn’t get any easier.
Djokovic finished the 2025 season on a high, winning two titles. He claimed his 100th tour-level title at the Geneva Open after beating Hubert Hurkacz in May. He then won his 101st at the Hellenic Championship, defeating Lorenzo Musetti in the final. Djokovic will kick off his 2026 season at the Adelaide International and will hope to win the title.
Tim Henman believes Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will reach the finals of the Australian Open
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are often the favorites to win any tournament they compete in, particularly in a Grand Slam. For the past two years, both players have shown that they can compete at the highest level of the sport and deliver a consistent performance. They have reached the last three Grand Slam finals on tour.

Should they reach the fourth Slam final at the 2026 Australian Open, they will become the first pair to face each other in four consecutive major championship matches. During the aforementioned conversation, Tim Henman noted that he foresees Alcaraz and Sinner reaching the final of the Melbourne Grand Slam:
The scary thing is that Alcaraz and Sinner are getting better, given they’re 14 years younger [than Djokovic]. It’s a scary thought. Look, I feel pretty confident that unless something strange happens, it will be Alcaraz and Sinner in the final in Melbourne.
Alcaraz is seeking to complete a career Grand Slam at the Australian Open and will become the youngest player to do so. Meanwhile, Sinner hopes to defend the title, winning it for the third consecutive time on tour. However, Alcaraz’s best run in Melbourne came in 2024 and 2025 when he reached the quarter-finals.
