Jordi Cruyff is sure that Lionel Messi will stay

Lionel Messi has been free to talk with clubs outside of Spain since January this year. There have been talks from last summer itself when Messi had a rift with the club’s hierarchy and wanted to leave immediately.

However things seemed to have calmed down now and Messi is left with the choice of extending his contract or leaving on free and parting with his boyhood club. With new president elect Joan Laporta confident about being able to convince Messi to stay it will be an interesting situation in the summer.

Son of former Barcelona great and legend Johan Cruyff, Jordi Cruyff believes Messi will stay but then again stresses only the Argentine knows the answer. Cruyff is motivated by the little news snippets coming out of the Barcelona camp which may hint towards a contract extension.

I don’t know. I think there is only one person who can answer it, who is the person involved. “The fact that he was pictured at Camp Nou with his son [casting his vote for the presidency], the way he celebrated the comeback against Sevilla … that comes from within. “It is speculating more than anything else because only he has the answer.”
