No one who has a silver of knowledge about the NBA doubts what Michael Jordan has done. His list of accolades notwithstanding, fans know what a terror he was to opposing defenses.

From his ability to create separation for shots, or his sheer awareness and agility that allowed him to alter his shots at the rim, his exploits are not just legendary, but a permanent part of basketball folklore.

“His Airness” dominated at a time when defenses were still allowed to hand-check, bump, push, and pull at each other. Despite that, former NBA champion Paul Pierce had this to say about Jordan’s skills on No Fouls Given.

He was just one, two dribble pull-ups, it’s no bag… What do we define as a bag? It’s just handles to the shot?… Mike had a limited bag… He didn’t need to do all that fancy stuff, he was right to the business.

Paul Pierce said

Hearing this, another former champion and co-host of the podcast, Danny Green, added:

Shai got more of a bag.

Danny Green said

Both shared a similar logic while stating this, as they felt that even if Michael Jordan had a bag of tricks, he did not need to use them. Defenses at the time did not require him to bring out his flashy tricks.

Nowadays, the game is different, forcing athletes to be able to be skilled on the ball as opposing defenders are athletic, agile, and are capable of disrupting those shots.

Fans tear into Paul Pierce and Danny Green over Michael Jordan comment

Basketball fans watching this clip lost their minds. They could not believe that these two former NBA champions came to this logic, despite all the evidence stating otherwise.

They believe the two were speaking out of depth, as Michael Jordan’s skills with the basketball are ridiculous even when compared to the current era.

Fans felt that Paul Pierce and Danny Green were not making sense, especially as the 6-time champion scored most of his 32,292 points from inside the 3-point line. Check out examples of those reactions below:

Michael Jordan is not just considered the NBA’s GOAT because of his individual accolades. It was how he tortured his opponents that made him the greatest player of all time. Fans felt these two former champions forgot all about it.

Paul Pierce believes pure point guards do not exist anymore

While speaking about several topics, the cast of No Fouls Given talked about Chris Paul‘s impending retirement. Then Paul Pierce was asked if the Clippers star is the last of the true point guards.

The point guard position don’t exist no more. Why do you think on the All-Star ballot it doesn’t say point guard, it just says ‘guard.’… The game has changed.

Paul Pierce said

The Boston Celtics great believes the game has changed to the point where playmaking is not confined to any particular position. Rather, anyone who can dictate the offense gets the ball.

He did agree to Danny Green’s point that Tyrese Haliburton might be the only true point guard left, but added that nowadays point guards are tasked to exploit their range, and that has made them focus more on scoring.
