Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina who hasn’t played a competitive match in over 9 months is finally set to make his return with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he will represent Uttar Pradesh. Raina had earlier announced his retirement from international cricket in August along with MS Dhoni but made it clear that he would continue playing domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, Raina pulled out of the IPL 2020 due to ‘personal reasons’ and rumors were rife about a conflict with the team management. With reports of new teams in the IPL in 2021, it has been speculated that Raina would move on from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise to a new franchise.
