Brandon Moreno may no longer be the UFC champ, but he’s still getting the star treatment. This Saturday, Moreno takes on Amir Albazi in the main event of UFC Edmonton (UFC Fight Night 246). When he does so, he returns to top-bill competition wearing custom shorts! Yes, the former flyweight champion becomes the latest to receive the custom shorts.
Moreno returns to competition in more than eight months on Saturday when he takes on Amir Albazi. It was a wrinkle when the first Mexican champ Moreno wasn’t on the shortlist for this year’s Noche Pay-per-view (PPV). Instead, it was a major event in Canada. However, before media day for UFC Edmonton, “Assassin Baby” got his own custom shorts before poster signing.
Brandon Moreno’s custom-made shorts are black and red with green lettering and feature images of Quetzalcoatl. It happens to be a feathered serpentine deity in Aztec culture. After the recent Noche event, this marks yet another custom outfitting for another Mexican fighter. Alexa Grasso received custom gear for her title defense at Noche UFC.

He has fought in seven consecutive championship or main event fights since December 2020. During this time, Moreno has become a figurehead for the fight game in his home country. The Team Brazilian Warriors BJJ fighter receiving custom shorts only proves that as much.
UFC Fight Night 246 pre-event facts: Brandon Moreno
Moreno is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Most recently, he dropped a split decision to Brandon Royval at UFC Mexico City in January. However, he has the advanced mettle to carry the champ-caliber around even in losses. He even dismissed Olympian wrestler Henry Cejudo’s recent call-out because he was not even on the map of the division.
He and former flyweight Deiveson Figueiredo are the only two to log a tetralogy in UFC competition and face each other over thrice. At UFC 256, Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo fought to the fourth draw in UFC title bout history.
Moreno is one of seven fighters in UFC history to earn an interim stoppage in a title bout. He achieved this feat on UFC 283. Moreno’s nine wins in the UFC’s flyweight division are tied for fifth most in the division’s history. He trails only Demetrious Johnson, who he rates as a minimum top-5 GOAT after retirement.
The Mexican superstar is tied for third in UFC flyweight history with six stoppage victories. The 30-year-old standout and his seven fight-night bonuses for UFC flyweight bouts are second-most in flyweight. UFC Edmonton can see KO king Derrick Lewis and others reach key records in their tenure. But headliner Moreno will be looking to return to all his glory as he once was against Amir Albazi.
