Patrick Beverley excited about new challenge in Europe with Israeli Hapoel Tel Aviv BC

Former Milwaukee Bucks guard, Patrick Beverley has had a tumultuous few seasons, as he found himself playing for four different teams in just two years. He has now joined Hapoel Tel Aviv BC of the Israeli Basketball Premier League, in pursuit of a fresh start.

Patrick Beverley on a recent episode of his podcast “Pat Bev Pod” shared his first impressions of his new team after attending training camp. He expressed his excitement about playing for the team, particularly citing the enthusiastic fans in Tel Aviv.

We competed a lot, but the most important thing, we got a chance to get to know each other. The imports and Israeli guys were able to connect, we were able to learn from each other, and I think that's the biggest thing with playing with basketball - the chemistry. Our chemistry is great, we all like each other.

Unfortunately, he was unable to stamp his spot in the teams he’s played in the league, thus his moving to Israel seems like a point he has to prove to his doubters. Hopefully, he gets his chance, and there’s no denying his defensive skills, at his new team.

He played last with the Milwaukee Bucks where he averaged 6.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game and got involved with a fan during the Bucks playoff exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.

Patrick Beverley speaks out on NBA coaches and superstars

Patrick Beverley’s previous relationships with coaches have not always been a walk in the park. However, the new Tel Aviv player fully understands the importance of being coached, which many superstars in the NBA fail to do so, according to him. In his recent podcast, he explained why NBA stars wouldn’t survive in a coach-dominated environment.

Many superstars in the NBA are afraid of coaches; some don’t even want to be coached. If you’re a successful coach and you take over a team with players who haven’t had any success, the star players don’t want you. After all, that coach has accomplished something in his career, and the players haven’t.

He has previously been critical of the NBA where he praised the style of play in the European league. It wouldn’t be a surprise to fans that his recent comments on his podcast may have been what led to his departure back to where it all started.

Furthermore, his time in the NBA saw him get involved in trouble with fans and even denied a reporter the chance to question him. As such, some in the league will be glad he’s gone. He averaged 8.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 3.4 APG during his 11-year tenure in the NBA.
