Preity Zinta is one of the involved owners in the Indian Premier League. Purchasing Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2008, formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, the actress makes sure she can watch the team whenever possible.

Recently, former PBKS all-rounder Irfan Pathan spoke about her commitment to the team. He revealed that Zinta used to get really upset after each loss. Pathan added that she used to rarely get angry at the team, but showed her disappointment to them a few times.

She is a wonderful woman. She was quite involved with the team. Haarne pe pareshan ho jaati thi, bahut pareshan ho jaati hai (She gets very upset when the team loses). But she knows how to control her emotions.

Zinta purchased 23% of PBKS in 2008 along with her former partner Ness Wadia (23%), Mohit Burman (46%) and Saptarishi Dey. Pathan was purchased by the team in the inaugural IPL auctions and played for the team till 2010. 

Jonny Bairstow leads Punjab Kings to record breaking chase 

PBKS chased down 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 26th April. After electing to bowl first, they were belted for 261, the 6th time someone crossed the 260 mark in the 2024 IPL. Openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine built a 138 partnership, with both scoring fifties. The middle order supported them as well, hitting the PBKS bowlers for fun.

Jonny Bairstow led PBKS’s record breaking chase, scoring a century in 45 balls. Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh supported the English opener, hitting fifties with strike rates more than 240. They chased down the mammoth total with eight balls to spare as well. 

This is the highest chase in the history of the format. The previous best was from South Africa, who chased down 259 against West Indies in 2023.
