Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered an embarrassing loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 15th April. The match saw RCB concede the highest total in the history of the IPL and lost by 25 runs.

They had benched four out of their six most expensive players for the match, which was pointed out by former player Abhinav Mukund. The former Test opener tweeted out the price tags of Cameron Green (₹17.5 crore), Alzarri Joseph (₹11.5 crore), Glenn Maxwell (₹11 crore) and Mohammed Siraj (₹7 crore).

All four players have been having a tough time at the 2024 IPL. Green, who was traded from Mumbai Indians, has managed only 68 runs in 6 innings and two wickets. Joseph has been poor with the ball, picking up one wicket in three matches, with an average of 115 and ER of 11.9.

Maxwell was dismissed for three ducks and has scored only 32 runs in 6 innings. He recently took an indefinite break from cricket to reach his best mentally and physically. Siraj has been on a run similar to Joseph, with an average of 57.25. The pacer has also been pretty expensive, with an economy rate of 10.41.

RCB charge over half a lakh to attend match at Chinnaswamy despite terrible form

It is well known that getting tickets for the IPL is an extremely tough thing to do. The demand for the tickets cause them to get sold out in minutes and many times fans are forced to purchase expensive tickets to watch their favorite teams. Almost all franchises decide on the pricing, with the state associations having no control over it.

These demands have caused surges in the prices as well, with some tickets reaching five digits at times. However, the most expensive tickets are charged by RCB. The franchise charges ₹2,300 for their cheapest tickets, with their most expensive being ₹53,000.

RCB charges this amount to counter tickets being sold on the black market. Along with that, teams need to pay 28% revenue as GST and 25% entertainment tax.
