Novak Djokovic failed on Sunday (March 30) to claim his 100th career title after losing to Jakub Mensik in the Miami Open final. The World No.5 has been seeking to reach the milestone since claiming the singles gold medal at the Paris Olympics. However, former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli believes he can claim his 25th Grand Slam.
Djokovic made history at the 2023 US Open after claiming his 24th Grand Slam. The victory made sure he became the men’s player with the most major titles but tied with Margaret Court overall. Since then, he has been chasing his 25th title but only came close to claiming it at the 2024 Wimbledon Championship, where he finished as runners-up.
The Serbian recently failed to enter into the annals of history after losing to 19-year-old Mensik in the final of the Miami Open. His search for a 100th ATP singles title continues. Nonetheless, he has never won an ATP title or Grand Slam since 2023. In fact, the last time he lifted an ATP trophy was at the 2023 WTA Finals in Turin.
The former World No.1 has struggled to reach his peak and, in important matches failed to play his best. But Marion Bartoli, who claimed the Wimbledon Championship in 2013, believes that the Serbian drive and desire will help him claim his 25th Grand Slam in the future.
For me, that desire to win everything, you see it in the depths of his eyes. That moment when he won Olympic gold… He never gave up on that quest. e wants to finish with 25 Grand Slams to be at the top of the pyramid and not have any name next to his, and I think he won’t stop until he gets that.

Djokovic will hope to try again for his 100th tour-level title and 25th Grand Slam in the European clay season. The 37-year-old played some great tennis in Miami and, if he can continue with it, has a good chance of winning a title in the coming weeks.
Andy Roddick believes Novak Djokovic “can still” win his 25th Grand Slam
Novak Djokovic looks to have gotten back support from legends of the sport. The 37-year-old was relegated to among the least favorited since the rise of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz on Tour. But after his performance and run at the Miami Open, American legend Andy Roddick believes he has a shot at winning the 25th Slam.

Is he What he was three years or 10 years ago? No. But who gives a s—-. This guy is surviving. This guy can still win a major. Especially when the surface is giving him some love, like it was in Miami, where the ball is getting through the court. Where he doesn’t have to protect the sidelines as much or play as much defence.

Djokovic is expected to play the Monte Carlo Masters, which is the first ATP 1000 clay tournament of the season. He featured at the event last year but exited in the semi-finals after losing to Casper Ruud.
Renowned Tennis presenter says the 25th Grand Slam is not certain for Djokovic
While there has been support for Novak Djokovic’s quest for a 25th Grand Slam, there are also doubts. Tennis presenter Gigi Salmon revealed that there’s no doubt that the Serbian legend will secure a 100th ATP singles title in the coming months, but she’s not sure he will win a 25th major due to his age.

Things tend to get harder with age: recovery from strenuous exercise, a big night out and in some cases achieving our goals and dreams, something 37-year-old Novak Djokovic is finding as his quest for title 100 continues… When it comes to Djokovic, the articles celebrating a new record and new piece of history are written and ready to go and while I’m not certain the 25th Grand Slam will be won, I’m sure the 100th title will be secured, with his next opportunity the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo, a title he has won twice before but not since 2015.

Djokovic turns 38 on the 22nd of May, an age that is likely to make his chances of winning a Grand Slam very slim. The birthday will be three days before the French Open and will coincide with the return of Jannik Sinner from suspension.
