Over the past few days, WWE legend Ric Flair revealed that he was scammed out of $2 million. Flair has taken to his social media accounts to discuss the matter. In his latest post on X, Flair clarified that the scam doesn’t involve his ex-wife, Wendy, or anybody in his family. Flair ranted on, further disclosing that the scam involved a business deal with an unnamed person from 20 years ago.
The Nature Boy’s tirade on social media prompted Cary Silkin to respond to him. The former Ring of Honor owner accused Flair of owing him $41K. According to Silkin, Flair failed to appear at 4 different fan signings, failing to repay him. Furthermore, Silkin expressed his disappointment in the comment section, highlighting how one of his wrestling heroes ended up scamming him.
Silkin also shared that, unlike with Flair, his experience with other legends such as Bret Hart and Mick Foley was a “pleasure.” Silkin mentioned that the incident was a long time ago, terming himself a “moron” for entrusting the sixteen-time world champion.

Unsurprisingly, this isn’t the first controversy Flair has been involved in. Earlier this year, the WWE Hall of Famer allegedly woo’ed directly in a grandmother’s face at a pizza outlet. The restaurant manager accused Flair of being drunk and acting disorderly, forcing him to take action and kick Flair out of the place.
A few months later, Ric Flair received backlash online for his insensitive remarks about Hurricane Helene. Whether it be the infamous Plane Ride From Hell or no-showing fan events, Flair’s off-screen reputation has taken a gigantic hit since his retirement.
Is Ric Flair still signed to AEW?
In 2023, Sting began his legendary retirement tour, which culminated at this year’s AEW Revolution. At the behest of Sting’s wishes, CEO Tony Khan signed the legend’s longtime friend, Ric Flair. Although this move led to online criticism, Khan clarified that Flair’s WOOOO! energy drink would pay for the contract.

Flair’s energy drink brand became an official sponsor for AEW. In addition to that, Flair appeared regularly on programming throughout Sting’s retirement tour. At Revolution, The Nature Boy accompanied Sting to his final match.
During the main event, Flair even received a double superkick from The Young Bucks. Following the retirement match, however, Flair vanished from television. Later, reports suggested that the sponsorship deal fell through and neither Flair nor his energy drink were associated with AEW.
