Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc won the Bahrain GP after starting from pole position, his first win since the 2019 Italian Grand Prix. His teammate Carlos Sainz finished the race in the second position. It was also Ferrari’s first win and 1–2 finish since the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix. The duo sealed P2 and P3 in the Saudi Arabian GP behind 2021 champion Max Verstappen.‘
At the moment, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is looking like the favourite to win the title race. The Monagesque seems much more aware and has proven to be championship winning quality. Along with that, Ferrari seems to be the best car on the grid and has managed to outperform the other constructors on the grid.
Ferrari ambassador and long-standing test driver Marc Gene has appreciated the “mindset and mentality” of the Monegasque driver who aims for a maiden Formula 1 World Championship title in 2022.

He said, “Charles, he used to be very emotional and this year he has changed a lot. Charles is like a 2.0 version of himself. When I went to Barcelona for the private testing, we spent a lot of time together and he was completely changed in his mindset and his mentality, and you can see it. I was expecting Charles to be more over the moon after qualifying, after the pole, and the race, but he seemed so much more mature and aware that this is a very long championship.”
Gene also credited Team Principal Mattia Binotto and driver Carlos Sainz for the calmness within Ferrari. He says the Tifosi will be delighted to support the Prancing Horse this season and will help “keeping these emotions that we Italians, we tend to have.”
