The 2020 and 2021 Formula 1 season have gone by in uncertainty, as the Covid-19 pandemic caused havoc all around the world. With the 2020 season being pushed further due to increased pandemic threat, the drivers and even the staff were at great risk. The likes of Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and Kimi Raikkonen suffered from positive tests, which had an impact on their performance.
The 2021 season has been a roller coaster for Charles Leclerc, with the Ferrari driver starting out strong, but losing his ground slightly at the end of season to finish 7th in the drivers championship. Yet, the start of the year has not been the easiest for him, with the youngster testing positive for Covid early in January 2021.
Charles Leclerc Tests Positive for Covid-19 Second Time with Mild Symptoms
The young driver tested positive for covid-19 after returning home following the post-season Abu Dhabi test, the club said in a statement. “Charles has tested positive for Covid-19. In accordance with protocols required by FIA and the team, Charles was tested on his return from Abu Dhabi. He is currently feeling fine, with mild symptoms, and will self-isolate at home,” Ferrari tweeted.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw Charles finish in 10th place after a failed strategy by the Ferrari team. He was seen in the last testing of the 2021 season, completing over 300 laps in the new 18 inch tyres that are set to be a part of the new rules and regulations for the 2022 Formula 1 season.
