Michael Mario Andretti is one of the most proven and powerful names in the world of motorsports. Mario Andretti is a former American semi-retired auto racing driver. Statistically he is one of the most successful drivers in the history of American open-wheel car racing where he won the CART PPG Indy Car World Series in 199 and amasses 42 race victories. The 59-year-old racer now has decided to own a team in Formula One with a bit of reluctance shown on the way.

The name Andretti will add a lot of value to Formula One while his application to admit a team in Formula One gets accepted. In order to do so, Andretti needs to adequately prove solvency in addition to a 200-million-dollar fee. Andretti has confirmed on applying necessary documents to the FIA for the permission in entering for the premier class in 2024.

Yet there are many hurdles for Andretti to overcome in doing so. Christian Horner, Red Bull team principal does not seem to have much problem with his arrival. Christian does emphasis on a one-two punch while he is not unsympathetic to the arrival of the American formation.

Christian Horner says that there has been a good development in Formula One after the takeover of Formula One by Liberty media. The sport has grown a lot of popularity since then with rumors’ swirling up around the growing ambitions of teams to join the premier class of the motor sport. Formula One also recorded one of the highest views in the 2021 season in the Abu Dhabi Grand prix with the growing interest in the rivalry between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

During a press event that included The Race, the Red Bull Racing team boss described the growing interest as “amazing.” The fact that a big name like Andretti is showing interest is only good for Horner, but he warns that completing the entire registration procedure successfully will be difficult.

“There is a clear criteria through the Concorde Agreement that has to be met and approved. I’m sure they are engaged in that process. That agreement is there to protect the 10 incumbents and not to dilute that. So that would need to be carefully looked at,” added Christian Horner with no preferential treatment given in any case.
