Haas to take advantage of clause in Antonio Giovinazzi’s contract

Hass Formula1 team has been in the news ever since the invasion of Russia into Ukraine and because of the surmounting pressure on the team, they have been forced to make tough decisions. They recently fired their Russian driver Nikita Mazepin and are now looking at Antonio Giovinazzo as a potential replacement.
It has been stated GPblog that the former Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi is on the shortlist of the Haas Formula1 team. Antonio has not kept his desire of returning to Formula1 a secret and his wish could very well come true this season if Haas decides to take advantage of a clause in Antonio’s current deal in FormulaE.
It is believed that in his current contract with Dragon Racing there is a clause that states “If a Formula1 team comes calling, he would be allowed to leave.” If Haas is going to come calling, there is no doubt over what Antonio is going to do, given what he has said about his desire to return to Formula1.”
Nikita Mazepin’s sudden departure has opened the door for Antonio Giovinazzi
The Haas Formula1 team was in a good place ahead of the 2022 season with two drivers who had a year’s worth of experience of driving for Haas, but ever since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, all their plans have gone into a spiral.
The team has been forced into making sudden decisions and one of those decisions saw the removal of Nikita Mazepin from the Haas team for the 2022 season. It is believed that the decision was taken in the best interest of the team and many sports pundits also believe that it was the right decision on part of Haas.
Nikita’s departure has left an open seat at Haas and as per reports, it is very likely that the seat at Haas could go either to Pietro Fittipaldi who is the current Haas test driver or to Antonio Giovinazzi. Given that Antonio has more experience of driving in Formula1, there are very good chances that Haas could go to him instead of Fittipaldi.
