The RedBull team adviser Helmut Marko has come out and praised the Mercedes Formula1 team for withdrawing the two complaints they had lodged earlier regarding the incidents of the Yas Marina Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

It has been stated in racingnews that Helmut Marko has said that “He understands the disappointment.” He understands why Mercedes felt they were robbed given Lewis had a very strong lead before the last lap of the race. He sympathizes with Mercedes but at the same time has said that during the season things have gone against them as well. He especially mentioned the incidents that took place at Silverstone, Budapest, and Baku.

Given the turmoil of the 2021 Formula1 season, Helmut Marko in his interview has asked the FIA to bring more uniformity in their decision making and has asked to make the rules a bit simpler for everyone to understand. This way he believes there would be fewer chances of teams blaming each other or the FIA for certain incidents going ahead into the 2022 season.

He has also stated that currently there is too much pressure on Micheal Masi to handle the race decisions himself and admits that he needs a new system around him to better manage the race day situations. He also said that the various team principals should not have a direct channel with Micheal Masi and rather they should be allowed to talk to the rest of the race team.

With what the RedBull team adviser Helmut Marko has said regarding the rules, it is quite certain to say that Mohammed Ben Sulayem has got a few decisions to make. The first thing that he has to do is look back at the whole season and point out the controversial incidents that took place during the season.

After looking at the season as a whole he and his team have to come up with new rules and regulations that are a bit simpler to understand for everyone. Given there are less than three months to go for the start of the 2022 season, he has a lot of work to do and little time to do it in. It will be interesting to see what he is able to come up with in the next few months. All eyes are on him and he has to deliver.
