Daniel Ricciardo definitely hasn’t had the best of starts to this season as the Australian has struggled for raw pace. He had a pretty decent start to the pre season with McLaren looking on the front foot as they emerged as the pace setter and there were speculations that the British team might be up for title contention.

But that hasn’t turned out to be the way everyone expected it to be. McLaren and Daniel Ricciardo haven’t been able to set the ground running with the kind of performances expected out of him. He also hasn’t had it easy with COVID-19. He contracted the virus during the Bahrain testing.

In the first race of the season, he didn’t look race fit as he finished P14. The Australian joined the team to lead the team to success and also compete for the driver’s championship. But it seems to be going downhill and it’ll be imperative for Daniel Ricciardo to reflect on his performances and reassess his strategy.

Former F1 driver Martin Brundle has had some stern word for Daniel Ricciardo. He recently said, “Daniel’s got the talent and determination, I have no doubt about that.”

“He’s got the touch behind the wheel. [But] you can’t out-drive a car if it’s not fully competitive.”

“He’s got to help drive that team forward. That’s what he’s there to do. That’s why they wanted his speed and experience.”

“He’s almost got to put his own career to one side and just drive the team forward.” As reported by planetf1.

Daniel Ricciardo is one of the crown jewels but all the greats in the game have gone through a rough patch. He just needs to switch to plan B to reap the rewards and one way of doing it can be to focus on McLaren’s progress and not his own, for now.
