Aston Martin is looking to improve their performance and secure a higher finish in the standings. The British team have new leadership on board and with new technical regulations in place ahead of the 2022 Formula one season, are looking for fortunes to swing on their side.
Aston Martin retained Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll as the 2022 race drivers under the leadership of the new team principal, Mike Krack. Krack replaces former Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer left after having spent 12 years with the team.
Krack has since gone to praise the stability and experience veteran Sebastian Vettel brings to the team. The former 4-time Formula One World Champion earned Aston Martin’s first podium by finishing second in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Vettel finished 12th on the standings and secured 43 points of the 77 scored by his team

Sebastian Vettel “knows what it takes to go faster“

Mike Krack previously worked on BMW Sauber F1 and Porsche WEC motorsport teams. The Luxembourgish is no newcomer to the world of competitive racing and believes Vettel’s experience and outlook will push the team to take further strides.
“He’s smart and knows how to use that experience in the right way,” Krack said in an interview with Auto, Motor und Sport. “He doesn’t just say something was done differently in the past. He knows what it takes to go faster. He can also use that to help us as a team manage that development.”
Aston Martin who finished the 2021 season in 7th place looking to make a serious impact after completing 296 laps of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during the Pre-season testing. The team did face some reliability issues with Stroll and Vettel’s car facing breaking down during the final day. They are expected to bring new adjustments for the Official Pre-season testing in Bahrain to address reliability and aerodynamic issues.
