‘If support is needed at Ferrari… I’m there,’ Mick Schumacher lays down agenda for 2022 F1 season

Son of Ferrari Legend Michael Schumacher, who share the record for the greatest number of world titles with Lewis Hamilton with 7 world title, Mick Schumacher enters his second spell in F1 with American F1 outfit Hass in 2022. Though the Ferrari prodigy failed to score a single championship point mainly due to the underperforming car that was provided to him he was able to showcase he belonged in F1 and not secured the premotion just because of his surname.
Hass finished at bottom of the constructers championship table without scoring any points because they decided to not to develop a challenger for 2021, continuing with their 2020 car, to divert their attention towards developing the 2022 challenger which is designed for entirely new regulation. The Hass car for 2022 was launched in February for becoming the 1st team to do so in 2022 and now the German star has expressed his opinion on his Hass goals and potentially driving for Ferrari in the future.
Mick Schumacher on his Ferrari dreams
Mick Schumacher told Sky Deutschland, that he is ready to support Ferrari if his need is their but added that his goal this year remains attaining maximum success with Hass. Mick Schumacher shared his optimism that he can prove himself in Hass colours this season which will put him at the right career path in F1. When asked about potentially driving for Ferrari this season as he is one of the test drivers Mick Schumacher said it will be nice to “nice to sit in the Ferrari” but added his focus remains with Hass.
“…If support is needed at Ferrari, of course I’m there. My goal is to be as far ahead as possible this year with Haas. What happens in the future remains to be seen. It also depends on what goes on with Haas this year. If I prove myself there, hopefully it will go in the right direction,” Mick Schumacher said.
“Of course, it would be nice to sit in the Ferrari, but my main focus is, of course, on Haas,” Mick Schumacher replied.
Mick Schumacher want Hass to “show up consistently in Q2” and “score points”
Mick Schumacher said he want Hass to fight for points in second half of 2022 by showing up consistently and added that team Hass starting their preparations for 2022 quite early than other teams will help the team. Mick Schumacher added that happy in terms of cars development yet but added that he isn’t quite sure how it will behave in 2022.
“I think we would be happy if we could show up consistently in Q2 and then score points here and there. That’s my personal goal, but also the goal we have as a team. Accordingly, we also have to step on the gas to achieve this. All teams are set to zero. Maybe it can give us a small lead because we started earlier,” Mick Schumacher said.
“I was in contact with the team almost every day to see what this year’s car looks like and what gaps we still have, but I believe….things are really positive and we can therefore be quite happy. I know roughly how the car has developed in terms of numbers compared to last year, how the car will behave in the corners…hopefully it will behave. We don’t quite know yet,” Mick Schumacher added.
Mick Schumacher went on to say car will become a bit harder to drive and the bigger tyres and smaller sidewalls will make it even harder. Mick Schumacher, he has to change his driving style accordingly and get used to the new car.
“I think the car will become a bit stiffer to drive, jerky. We have bigger tyres but a smaller sidewall that will make the car even stiffer. Therefore, the driving style will certainly change quite a lot. Then you just have to get used to it again,” Mick Schumacher added.
