“I’m Hungry”: Daniel Ricciardo Eager to Make Front-Row Start Count
Daniel Ricciardo
When Australian Honey Badger was acquired by McLaren before the start of the 2021 season, he was one of the most anticipated drivers to look out for. But even after more than 10 races with McLaren, it seemed like Daniel Ricciardo was completely out-performed and covered in the shadow of Lando Norris. But with the action returning to Monza for Italian GP, Ricciardo seems to have started on a positive note.
Due to Valtteri Bottas’ grid penalty, Ricciardo starts the race on Sunday from P2 and is only behind Max Verstappen to take the ultimate result. Knowing that the circuit in Monza could support teams with greater horsepower, Ricciardo has the chance to seal his first podium finish or even more to finally make the 2021 season count.
What was Opinionated by Daniel Ricciardo Ahead of Raceday?
“I’ll probably dream a little bit about it tonight but I’m ready to make that (a win) a reality for sure,” he said on Saturday as quoted by Fox Sports. “For McLaren, it’s been a long time, for me it’s been a long time. So, it’s definitely refreshing to be back up here. We’re close.
“A few things might have to swing in our favour tomorrow but we’ll certainly put ourselves in the fight, in the hunt. Very excited to get going with that and try to make some good stuff happen.”
Ricciardo concluded, “Yes, I mean, today that’s what gave me a chance — a good start. I thought maybe I’d get Max (Verstappen) in Turn 1 but he had the inside. I look forward to (to the race).
“I’m hungry. I’m hungry. Anybody who saw me after qualifying, I think they’re not surprised about this outcome today.”
