“I’m more than happy to be here” Valtteri Bottas talks about his new team ahead of 2022 F1 season
Valtteri Bottas
Alfa Romeo F1 driver Valtteri Bottas is looking for a career revival after leaving Mercedes after the 2021 F1 season. After being relegated to the role of a ‘Second Driver,’ Bottas seeks to be a team leader in his new venture with the Italian outfit.
Bottas partnered with 7-time World Champion during his 5 seasons at Mercedes. Despite winning 10 Grand Prix he was heavily criticised for not being on par with Lewis Hamilton. The Finn looks ahead to recreating the same form with his new team.
Unlike the high-pressure environment with Mercedes, he believes he can become a better driver in his new environment at Alfa Romeo. He is looking forward to being more than a second driver and leading the team to podiums and wins.

Valtteri Bottas: “I don’t see me as the only leader of the team“
In an interview with The Race late last year, Bottas shared his vision with Alfa Romeo is ahead of the season opener in Bahrain. He was asked if he will be able to recreate his winning form with Mercedes with the Italian outfit.
Bottas said “I absolutely feel that I have still so much to do to get better and so much more to give to this sport. As a driver, you never stop learning as long as you want to. So, of course, I’m always looking at areas that I can be better and it truly feels like now I can just be the best version of myself instead of trying to be something else and trying too hard.”
“And I don’t see me as the only leader of the team, we’re in this together. That is the feeling. Of course, I can guide the way they go if I feel like I have experiences from the past but in the end, we’re in this together with Guanyu and the whole team and with Robert. I’m more than happy to be here and again I want to thank the team for this opportunity” said the Finnish driver.
Valtteri Bottas replaced fellow Finn Kimi Raikonnen and will be partnering with Chinese rookie Guanyu Zhou for the 2022 Formula One season. Alfa Romeo unveiled the official livery of C42 on February 27th.
