“It would be impossible to race in Russia amidst the war,” Stefano Domenicali claims there are several options to choose from to replace Sochi
Stefano Domenicali on the Russian War
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali admits that it might be impossible to find a replacement for the Russian Grand Prix at such a short notice. Russian President recently announced war against their neighbor Ukraine which hasn’t been taken well by anyone across the globe and rightly so.
The sporting community has also been taken aback by the chaos that have occurred but has decided to take a staunch stand against war. Right from football to Formula 1, the message has been very clearly expressed. ‘STOP WAR‘.
F1 American team Haas even went a step ahead where they cancelled the sponsorship of their Russian sponsor Uralkali and there is a possibility of Russian driver, Nikita Mazepin, following Russian invasion of Ukraine.
F1 CEO also has taken a strict approach on the same and had a closed door meeting with the team bosses on Thursday where they discussed the status of the Russian Grand Prix. The message was unanimous. Everyone agreed to cancelling the Russian Grand Prix in the current circumstances.

The only problem that was there was the logistic problem. But we all know F1 is no stranger to re-scheduling of the calendar post the global pandemic which made it necessary for the organization which was confirmed by the CEO.
Stefano Domenicali said, “Talking specifically about the situation this year, because of the Russian situation, I just can confirm to you we have already proven in the last couple of years to be very flexible and not to have any problem in finding possible solutions for that.”
“So I can just confirm, that could be an option for this year with no problem at all.”
“It was claimed such is the demand for Formula 1, a 30 round calendar could be agreed tomorrow.” As reported by planetf1.
The stand against war taken by the sporting and F1 community has been clear and completely justified. There is no place in this world for war and anyone who tries to do that should be condemned and reprimanded. So, it’s time to come together and fight against it as a collective unit.
