“It’s a dream for everybody to race for Ferrari” Mick Schumacher on joining forces with Ferrari following his fathers legendary footsteps

The 2021 season saw the son of Formula 1 legend and 7 times world champion Michael Schumacher, Mick Schumacher showing he earned his place in F1 by virtue of his racing skills than because of him carrying the surname Schumacher. Though Mick Schumacher and his team Hass, thanks to their weak challenger, finished at the bottom of the championship table he was able to showcase his racing skills as he consistently outperformed his teammate and fellow rookie Nikita Mazepin.
Mick Schumacher told Crash.net in an exclusive interview that its dream for everybody to race for Ferrari and said he think anybody will like to race for Scuderia Ferrari where his dad earned his legendary status. Mick Schumacher went on say that right now he is more concerned about achieving maximum success with Hass with the better car he hopes will have in 2022.
“I think in general it’s a dream for everybody to race for Ferrari. I think anybody would like to race there,” Mick Schumacher added.
“But obviously my thoughts are very much on the here and now and trying to do my best job in the position that I am in with Haas. For sure hopefully with a better car we’ll be able to take the maximum out of it,” Mick Schumacher added.

Mick Schumacher said, him and Hass were very happy about the 2021 season and said he found the Q2 appearance and growth over the year were few of the achievements the team had in mind. Mick Schumacher added that he is so fascinated about his experience in F1 and felt like being in home at F1 a something he didn’t felt during his junior years.
“I think we can say that we are happy. I think we’ve achieved a few things that we’ve wanted to, such as a Q2 appearance and growing over the whole year. I feel that we managed to get to that point. The one that is outstanding is obviously points, and we are all pushing to try to achieve that,” Mick Schumacher said.
“I would say it has lived up to my expectations. I am also very fascinated about it because I feel so at home and it hasn’t been that way in any junior category really before,” Mick Schumacher added.
Mick Schumacher said his dad’s former rival and & times world champion Lewis Hamilton has always been open to giving him advice to help him in the position he was in. Mick Schumacher explained that the conversations him and Lewis Hamilton had been private and some of its were related to racing where as others were just friendly conversations.
“Yeah, definitely he’s always been very open to giving advice to help me in the position I was in…He was able to talk to me about certain things. Those conversations are obviously private. Some of it is related to racing but most of it is just on a friendly basis,” Mick Schumacher said.
Mick Schumacher on what he expects for 2022 after a frustrating 2021 season
Mick Schumacher was asked about his frustrating 2021 season as he failed to showcase his 100% skills last season, he replied that him and team already expected that the car will perform on the level as it did in 2021. Mick Schumacher added that the team was fully emersed in preparing the 2022 challenger and is hopeful that Hass will be able to fight for points every weekend from 2022.
“We accepted that quite early on and we knew what was expected of the car and we basically all worked in the direction to try and prepare ourselves as good as we can for [2022], where, hopefully we’ll be in that position where we can fight for points every weekend,” says Mick Schumacher.
Mick Schumacher went on to say that he feels they are in a good position ahead of 2022 and shared his optimism the cars level will be evident in first race of the season in Bahrain. Mick Schumacher said Hass will have new updates for the challenger in development for 2022 season and shred his optimism that the team is ready to address all the problems that may arise in the upcoming season.
“I think from what I see and from being involved in this, I do have the feeling that we are in a good position,” Mick Schumacher added.
“How good? We will only know in Bahrain at the first race but we have this attitude next year that we know we’ll have updates coming our way, we will be developing the car and all of those things that we haven’t had this year. So, we know that if there is a problem, we can fix it next year,” Mick Schumacher explained.
