Jost Capito backs Alex Albon to grow into a new team leader

Jost Capito the Williams Formula1 team boss believes that their recruit Alex Albon can fill the void that would be left by the Mercedes-bound George Russel. He is leaving the team after serving them well for three years.

It has been published in Planetf1 that Alex Albon has been given a second chance in Formula1 as the former RedBull driver is going to get a second bite at the cherry that is Formula1.

Alex Albon is going to join his former Formula 2 teammate Nicholas Latifi who was with Williams in the previous season of Formula1 as well. George and Nicholas did a very good job for the team as they were able to finish above the Hass Formula1 team and the Ferrari sister team Alfa Romeo.

The Williams team boss is very optimistic about the former RedBull man and is backing him to do a good season for the team. In his eyes, Alex Albon has the potential to even emerge as the team leader during the course of the season.

When George Russel was at Williams he was able to outqualify Nicholas Latifi in the majority of the races during the whole three seasons and was the outright team leader at the Groove-based outfit. Jost Capito feels that Alex has also got the caliber to become a team leader at Williams.

He is hopeful that Alex is able to do the kind of job that George Russel did for them. During his interview, he also added that George is a natural team leader and even if he takes some time at Mercedes, he is eventually going to emerge as the leader sooner or later.

While talking about Alex, Jost Capito praised the driver’s work ethic and personality and believes he and the Williams team can grow together in the next season of Formula1.

To round off his interview he said that it is important for a driver to have a big ego, but also said that Alex has got a level head on his shoulders and this will benefit them. He is adamant that Williams would be able to get the best out of Alex Albon.
