Karun Chandhok unhappy with FIA decision, demands stronger reaction involving cutting ties with Russia
Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher
TV commentator Karun Chandhok has recently given his opinion on the position of racing drivers when it comes to driving licenses. He has stated the fact that drivers are allowed to apply for other ASNs for their licenses as the racing nationality is linked to the license rather than the passport of a person.
Karun Chandhok via his TWITTER handle has urged the FIA to put a stronger stance so that the drivers are put in a situation to cut their ties with Russia and apply for ASNs in other countries.
A lot has been said regarding the driver’s licenses ever since Russia’s invasion into Ukraine and people all over the world have been putting their feelings known regarding the Russian drivers.
As far as Formula1 is concerned there is one driver that has come under heavy scrutiny and that drive is Nikita Mazepin. There were rumors circulating regarding Nikita Mazepin’s availability but all were put to rest as FIA in an official statement has allowed Russian drivers to participate in the 2022 season of Formula1.
Karun Chandhok putting out options in front of the FIA
Karun Chandhok via his tweet has put another option in front of the FIA if they ever decide to put further sanctions on Russia for their invasion into Ukraine.
The sports fraternity all over the world have been doing their best to letting their displeasure known by putting sanctions on Russia and the FIA has also followed the rest of the world in their efforts by putting further sanctions on Russia. Recently the FIA via an official statement said that they are not going to stage a Grand Prix in Russia during the 2022 Formula1 season.
Earlier the race was only suspended but with FIA’s latest announcement, the hopes of Russia hosting a Formula1 Grand Prix during 2022 have been put to bed.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been condemned all over the world with various sports organizations still putting sanctions and doing their best to make sure Russia is not represented at any sporting event in any way. If the FIA also decides to go a bit extreme with their sanctions, then they can very well look at Karun Chandhok’s suggestion.
