Kevin Magnussen ‘struggles’ to adapt following his return to F1 after 15 months

Kevin Magnussen has made a surprise comeback to the team that had fired him in the year 2020. The Danish driver marked his return to F1 after a hiatus from the sport for a period of 15 months. Haas brought an end to his career in F1 after firing him back him 2020. But the team has decided to bring him back after getting rid of Russian driver, Nikita Mazepin, in the wake of the Russians declaring war on Ukraine.
Kevin Magnussen didn’t take the firing to heart as he decided to sign a multi year contract with his old employers. He tested out the car in the Friday testing in Bahrain while reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi tested out the new VF-22 on Thursday afternoon. But Kevin Magnussen did look like a fish out of water as he struggled to adapt to F1 yet again but he also looked excited to be back.
“I was obviously very surprised but equally very excited to receive the call from Haas F1 Team. I was looking in a different direction regarding my commitments for 2022 but the opportunity to return to compete in Formula 1, and with a team I know extremely well, was simply too appealing.” As reported by news18.
Kevin Magnussen slowly eases back into F1 as he manages to finsih 9th on day 2 of Bahrain testing

He admitted to the fact that it was difficult for him to deal with the pain of the excessive G forces which come along with driving a F1 car. This is anyway difficult to do in normal circumstances but when one has been away for 15 months, it makes the job doubly difficult.
“While the Danish driver kept sharp by racing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, as well as an IndyCar showing with McLaren, during his season away from F1, he admitted to media on Thursday that he was expecting to struggled with his neck after a day behind the wheel of the VF-22.” As reported by racingnews365.
The Danish driver took over from his team mate Mick Schumacher and slowly got better as he racked up the laps and eased his way back into F1. The driver eventually finished 9th as he showed some signs of progress which could be a blessing for Haas who has had a torrid last few weeks.
