Lewis Hamilton’s new partner George Russell expects ‘underdogs to prevail’ in upcoming 2022 season

After an amazing and dramatic 2021 season the Formula 1 world is awaiting impatiently for its 2022 incarnation which will be hosting an entirely new sets of rules and regulations. 2022 F1 regulations are part of FIA’s plans to make sure that the performance inequality among team’s cars comes down and all the drivers have a fair shot at the title though distant the new regulations and budget gap are the right steps at right direction.
Multiple F1 fans and personalities have come out expressing their enthusiasm and excitement about the new regulations and now the new Mercedes driver George Russell who will be partnering 7times world champion Lewis Hamilton in 2022 replacing Valtteri Bottas, who moved on to Alpha Romeo, has come out and expressed his opinion on the new challengers in development for the 2022 season.
George Russell thinks “underdogs will prevail” in opening of 2022 season
George Russell said he thinks globally everyone is excited to as he is about the upcoming F1 challengers for 2022 season. George Russell went on to say that he is looking forward to express the development of the challengers that will progress drastically through out the season with help of designers and simulated runs through him.
“I think, globally, really excited to see what the new cars offer for everybody. I think that is really exciting, but also, I’m looking forward to imparting the development of a car that will be progressing drastically throughout a season, working with the designers, working on the simulator, putting lots of work into progress,” says George Russell.
George Russell went on to say that he expects the one who progress the fastest will win the race than the quickest one on the field adding he is sure that their will be some interesting designed cars for 2022. George Russell said that maybe some underdogs will prevail in opening tests or races but the ultimate glory will be with the one who will develop the best and who builds better foundation for the future. George Russel added he is really excited about engineering perspective of the new cars.
“Because I’m sure it won’t necessarily be whoever’s quickest at race one will win. It will be whoever progresses fastest and I’m sure there’ll be some interesting designs out there,” George Russell said.
“There might be some underdogs prevail in the opening tests or races, but it’s whoever develops the fastest, develops the best, and to build that foundation for the coming years. That’s a side I’m really excited for from an engineering perspective,” George Russell added.
George Russell will be hoping to take the chance provided to him to be the Mercedes driver with both hands putting a performance that will impact the title race. George Russell also has the opportunity to potentially establish himself as a perfect replacement for 7 times world champion Lewis Hamilton if he decided to leave F1 or retire.
