The second pre-season testing of the 2022 Formula1 season is just a few days away and it is believed that Mercedes is set to bring massive upgrades for the Bahrain testing.

It has been stated in racingnews365 that while Mercedes is expected to bring upgrades, the Ferrari team is not going to follow Mercedes and is going to run the same car that they ran in Barcelona.

Formula1’s podcast host Tom Clarkson believes that the Formula1 fans are in for big surprises from Mercedes as in his opinion they are going to bring a barrage of new upgrades to Bahrain.

We’re getting a big, big upgrade for Bahrain from Mercedes, so it’s gonna be different,” said Clarkson

Ferrari believes it’s more of a B spec car, a bit like they did back in 2019 when they turned up with a very basic car for the first test and then an almost completely new car for test two.”

Ferrari are expecting Mercedes to be doing that again this year.”

While the silver arrows are tipped to bring upgrades for Bahrain testing, the Maranello-based Ferrari team is expected to run the same specs they ran in the first pre-season testing.

Ferrari’s F1-75 looked really good on the first day of testing with people like Helmut Marko and Toto Wolff saying that they have the best power unit among the 10 teams. The Ferrari team had a strong first pre-season testing and is looking to have another three productive days to learn more about its car’s performance.

Mattia Binnoto the Ferrari team Principal while talking about their car recently said “I think that the first step for us will be to optimize what we have.”

We are still far from the best performance, not only because we are running high fuel and not the best engine mode, but simply because there is a lot to exploit more from the car itself.”

Let’s wait, let’s see what the others will bring.”

Certainly as Ferrari we are always concerned on upgrades of our competitors. And I’m pretty sure they will be very, very strong by then.”

With so much being said before the second testing of the season, it is going to be quite fascinating to see what the teams are actually going to do given it is going to be the last chance for teams to get their cars in tune before going “lights out” on 18th March.
