“Pecking order is still going to change during 2022,” Rob Smedley opines on effects of new regulations

Red Bull and Ferrari
Rob Smedley the British Automotive engineer who works for Formula One has recently talked about the new dynamics that have come into play because of the change in regulations for the 2022 season.
Rob Smedley and Ross Brawn have been jointly responsible for the 2022 regulations and after witnessing the first two races of the season, it can be said that the duo has done a “magnificent job.”
Smedley himself is very pleased with what he has seen during the first two races of the 2022 F1 season.
The new regulations have changed the dynamics of Formula One as Red Bull and Ferrari have been strong this season whereas the reigning constructor’s champions Mercedes have struggled to keep pace with the top two.

Teams like Alfa Romeo and Haas who were suffering at the back end of the grid have shown solid pace and are running in mid-field at the moment.
Smedley, however, has indicated that the order is going to keep on changing during the 2022 season and believes the development work that the teams do during the season is going to be a major factor in determining the positions the teams are going to finish at the end of the 2022 season.
Rob Smedley on the impact of new regulations

Rob Smedley believes the pecking order is going to change and while talking about it has said, “I would expect that to change now more than any other year as people find big chunks of performance in lots of different areas. The development phase of the car is at such an immature stage, that the cars will change significantly from the first race to the final race… There’s going to be a very, very strong development curve on those cars.”
The development phase is going to be challenging for the teams in order to get peak performance, teams would be wanting to change as many parts as possible but because of the budget restrictions, the teams would have to work under it and come up with innovative ideas to make sure they don’t go over the pre-decided budget cap.

The 48-year-old Smedley believes that the regulations have done their job and the personnel at Liberty media are happy with the results they are seeing on the track.
Smedley has stressed that what the fans are seeing during 2022 has made the pinnacle of motorsports more beautiful than ever.
