“Hard work is starting to pay off,” Daniel Ricciardo optimistic of McLaren’s prospects ahead of 2022 Australian GP

Daniel Ricciardo the McLaren team driver has recently given his view on the progress that the team has made since the Saudi Arabia GP and on how much he is looking forward to the Australian Grand Prix, which also happens to be his home race.
Daniel and the McLaren team during the 2022 season have gotten off to a poor start as compared to the promise the team showed last season. The papaya-colored team is currently at the back end of the grid and is in 8th position at the moment.
The MCL36 has underperformed in the first two races of the season and Daniel himself is yet to score a point for his team. But despite all the problems Daniel is keeping a positive mindset ahead of the Australian GP that is making a return to the Formula One calendar after a hiatus of more than three years.

Ricciardo has recently revealed that after the Saudi GP he immediately flew back to Perth. “I feel rested, prepared, and excited to get stuck into one of my favorite weekends of the year.”
Albert Park has undergone major changes for the 2022 season, with the help of Ricciardo and others. He is looking forward to trying out the new layout for himself.
Ricciardo is happy with the progress that the team has made and has said, “It was encouraging to see how the team’s hard work is starting to pay off bit by bit.”
Daniel Ricciardo has had no luck in Australia yet

Ricciardo has previously many a time said that the Australian GP is one of his favorite races in Formula One but when it comes to luck, the Australian has had a terrible time at the circuit during his career so far.
The best that Ricciardo has been able to do in Australia is two 4th-place finishes that he achieved in 2016 and 2018 with the Red Bull team. Ricciardo has managed to get on the podium once in Australia but was disqualified because of high fuel consumption.
Daniel has so far raced eight times in Australia and has got three DNFs to his name which shows that the Australian GP hasn’t been kind to the honey badger on previous occasions.

While we are talking about DNFs, Ricciardo recently during the Saudi GP was also not able to finish the race, and given his past outings at the Australian GP, it is going to be fascinating to see how the beloved Daniel Ricciardo is going to perform in front of his home fans.
