“There is nothing true about that,” Automobile Club President on “potential” Monaco GP’s departure from F1 2023 calendar
Monaco GP
Monaco GP is going to stay on the Formula One calendar for the 2023 season and this is as per the President of the Automobile Club Monaco.
Formula One’s calendar is getting bigger and bigger every season with new venues coming into the fray, and with the introduction of Las Vegas, Qatar, and a possible return to China has fueled the rumors of Monaco possibly dropping out to make way for the additional venues.
Spa-Francorchamps and Paul Ricard are also rumored to be candidates to drop out, but Monaco is said to be in its final season, according to several sources.
Formula One has gained massive popularity since last season and is in a phase of “boom” at the moment, this has made countries interested in staging Formula One races in their backyard and as a consequence of this, the competition level for a spot on the 2023 calendar has increased exponentially.
Formula One has a lot of options but the only drawback is that the spots are limited and this has made the job way more difficult for the F1 hierarchy than it was in previous seasons.
Monaco GP is going to stay on the F1 calendar
Recently during a meeting of the Automobile club Monaco, Michel Boeri, the President of the organization in Monaco revealed that reports of Monaco disappearing from the Formula One calendar and completely false.
While talking about it Boeri said, “I want to address what has been written by the media. There is nothing true about that.”
“We are still in talks with them (Formula 1) and now we have to make it concrete by signing a contract. I can guarantee that after 2022 a GP will also be held (in Monaco). I don’t know if the contract will last three or five years, but those are details.”
As per Boeri, they are very confident in “putting pen to paper” regarding a new deal to get the rights to host Formula One races in the future but have however revealed that they are not sure for how many years the deal is going to be signed for.
As per sources, it could possibly be for three or five years.
