The 2022 formula season will March 18th this year in Bahrain with new regulation coming to effect in 2022 teams are also placing new drivers in there line up with Guanyu Zhou, the first full  Chinese driver in F1, making his debut for Alfa Romeo and former Red Bull driver Alex Albon returning to F1.

The 2022 season will also be eventful and surprising as with teams except Mercedes and McLaren currently has at least 1 driver whose contract will expires in 2022 and will be actively recutting or extending contracts in 2022.  Drivers like champion Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc and George Russell have long standing contract where most of their counterparts don’t.

The 2 times F1 world champion Veteran Fernando Alonso will see his Alpine Renault contract expiring in 2022 after he joined Alpine after a break in 2020. Ferando Alonso was instrumental in helping  Alpine finish ahead of their midtable rival Alpha Tauri finishing p5 in constructers championship with 155 points to their name.

Ferando Alonso took his first podium in seven years in Qatar along with some noteworthy performances during the season as he finished p10 in drivers championship ahead of his young partner Esteban Ocon with 81 points to his name. The veteran will see his contract ending in 2022, his future in F1 seems unclear  as he will 42 next year.

Sergio Perez had amazing season as Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull, but when we check what the veteran had achieved this individually, well it was a mediocre season as he was constantly out performed by his teammate Max Verstappen even though both of them had same resources at their disposal.

The major highlight of Sergio Perez’s 2021 season was him defending Lewis Hamilton for a whole 3 lap helping Max Verstappen to reduce the 9 second deficit to 1.5. He finished the 2021 season with 4 podiums and a win at Azerbaijan GP finishing 4th overall in drivers’ championship below his teammate Max Verstappen and Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, with 190 points 36 point behind 3ed place finisher Valtteri Bottas.

Carlos Sainz had an amazing season with him finishing 5th overall in the driver’s championship and Ferrari getting back to the top 3 with 3ed place finish in constructers championship Carlos Sainz finished the season with 4 podiums his name which accumulated him 164.5 championship points. He and His teammate Charles Leclerc was instrumental in Ferrari’s comeback season.

The youngsters such as Mick Schumacher Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda and Nicholas Latifi are other prominent names whose contracts expires in 2022.
