Valtteri Bottas bid farewell to Mercedes towards the end of 2021 after being with the team since 2017. Valtteri will surely miss the environment and his will always cherish his time with the team. The fin has now joined Alpha Romeo ahead of 2022 season alongside Guanyu Zhou.
Valtteri will begin new adventures with the Alpha Romeo team and is seemed to be more motivated than ever to drive the new livery. Valtteri had gotten an opportunity to drive the new Alpha Romeo C42 on February 15, Tuesday in the course of the shakedown at Fiorano.
With Alpha Romeo being the last team to uncover their machinery, all the teams are set to test their cars on track very soon. From being in the top team, at the front of the grid to getting a seat in the second worst team, Valtteri will have a lot of difficulties in getting used to the new norm.
Valtteri Bottas ready to use Mercedes experience at Alfa Romeo
Valtteri is taking this time in getting to know the team and getting busy behind the simulator. With the test days nearing, Bottas seems to be excited to see some real progress with the team while being positive about the work of the machinery after the shakedown.
“With my experience, I will try to guide the team as much as possible and in a way lead and take responsibility. I can invest my time in this effort now and this will help in the long run to prove that there is also a life outside of Mercedes,” Said Bottas.
The team finished eighth on the constructor’s championship standing for two consecutive years, 2019 and 2020, behind Hass and Williams. Last year even Williams got ahead of the team with George Russell performing extraordinarily alongside Nicholas Latifi who also helped in adding points to the team on multiple occasions. But with the arrival of new drivers, the team is hoping to score some good points this year and fight back for spots on the podium.
The pre-season testing is scheduled to begin from February 23rd and is set to conclude on the 25th of February in Barcelona.
