Charles Leclerc claimed his second victory of the season in the 2022 Australia GP. The Ferrari driver extended his lead in the Drivers Championship in first place with 71 points. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished second. Meanwhile, George Russell claimed his first podium finish as a Mercedes driver as the Briton finished 3rd in the race.

7-time Formula one World Champion Lewis Hamilton finished P4 making it a good weekend for the Silver Arrows. Mercedes who had a rocky start with issues surrounding the pace of the W13 claimed the most points by a constructor in the Australian GP – 27.

Mercedes brought new upgrades for the race and improved their W13. Adding to Red Bull’s reliability problems, Mercedes sits 10 points above their 2021 rivals and has made the best out of the opportunity. And they are ready to challenge Ferrari till the last race.

Mercedes to challenge Ferrari amidst Red Bull’s reliability issues.

Ferrari is on course to cement their lead on the championship as Leclerc claims their and his second win of the 2022 season. And the Scuderia, comfortably sit on top of the Constructor’s championship with a 49 point lead on Mercedes in second place. Leclerc leads the drivers’ championship by 34 points which is more than anyone did during any point in the 2021 season.

And the Brackley based team challenged the Italian outfit with a caption reading, “Fastest out of the blocks in F1 ‘22” tagging Ferrari and Charles Leclerc. It further read, “We’re giving our maximum effort to join them in the fight out front.” To which Ferrari replied, “We can’t wait.”

Mercedes have suffered a poor start and has been struggling to find the pace. The W13 has suffered from porpoising and this has made the car unstable in the straights finding itself behind mid-field cars and backmarkers. Mercedes-powered teams have also been struggling for straight-line speed at times compared to those running Ferrari and Red Bull-badged power units.
