“What a car today!” Charles Leclerc impressed by the car after winning the 2022 Australian GP
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed his second victory of the season within the first two races of the 2022 Formula One Career. The Monagesque started the race in Pole Position ahead of the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
His teammate Carlos Sainz retired early on in the race. The Spaniard lost control of his car through Turn 9, cutting across the grass, losing grip and sliding off into the gravel. Eventually, Leclerc’s main competitor Max Verstappen retired in the 40th lap of the race after a power unit failure.
Leclerc started the race on pole position and since then went unrivalled for the rest of the race. And the Monagesque claims his F175 was tuned perfectly to allow him to claim his second victory in a dominating fashion.

Charles Leclerc: “it was not possible without the car.”
Charles Leclerc claimed his second victory of the season in the 2022 Australia GP. The Ferrari driver extended his lead in the Drivers Championship in first place with 71 points. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished second. Meanwhile, George Russell claimed his first podium finish as a Mercedes driver as the Briton finished 3rd in the race.
In his Post-race interview, Leclerc reflected on his win saying his car and team made it possible for him to claim the top step of the podium. He said, “It’s the first time we controlled the race. What a car today. Of course, I did a good job all weekend, but it was not possible without the car. I’m just so happy!”
He added, “What a car today. This weekend, race pace, we were extremely strong, and the tyres felt great. I’m just so happy. Incredible to win here. We are only at the third race, so it is difficult to think about the championship but we have a very strong car, a reliable one too. It’s great to be back in this position.
Ferrari is on course to cement their lead on the championship as Leclerc claims their and his second win of the 2022 season. And the Scuderia, comfortably sit on top of the Constructor’s championship with a 49 point lead on Mercedes in second place.
