Audi to enter Formula One

In the latest development, Audi is close to finishing line when it comes to confirming their entry in Formula One from 2026. The Volkswagen group has been considering entries for Audi and Porsche from 2026. From 2026, Formula One has planned a huge set of changes to introduce environmentally conscious powertrains.

The focus will be using sustainable fuels and to make competing a little less costly for the teams. In a letter to the FIA President, Jean Todt, Audi outlined its goal to enter the F1 scenario. CEO of Audi, Markus Duesmann and its head of technical development, Oliver Hoffmann wrote: “Thanks to your efforts we are now close to the finish line. Recently, we saw another milestone being reached – the first draft of the technical, sporting and financial regulations… We believe that it contains satisfying solutions for all the objectives.”

As of now, there is no news about Porsche also being considered for entry. As things stand, it is likely that it is only Audi that will get the green signal to compete with rivals, Mercedes.

It is also uncertain as to whether Audi decides to enter Formula One as a supplier or a racing team. It is reported that Audi are in talks with McLaren and Red Bull to discuss about a potential partnership. McLaren has also confirmed that they are in early stages of talks with Audi.
