Bahrain 2022 Pre-Season Testing: Check the schedule for the second three-day testing period

Ferrari and McLaren

The pre-season testing round of Barcelona was quite eventful and ended on 25 February 2022. The three-day testing saw the prospective cars of all teams on the track for the first time before the first race of the season in Bahrain in March.

The second round of pre-season testing will be the representation of what teams learned in Barcelona and how they had built on their performance. Teams that looked to be in trouble in Barcelona were Alpine, Alfa Romeo, and Haas, as they all suffered from regular technical issues and would be hoping to clock in more on the track time and put in more laps than they’d have hoped initially.

The cars are expected to be faster than they were in Barcelona and the teams are expected to have resolved the problem of porpoising, which came to the light only on day one. This round will surely give a good estimate of the cars’ potential and how the teams will fare on the first race weekend, a week from the first day of the Bahrain testing.

Formula 1 has shared the official schedule of the pre-season testing in Bahrain. It will be held from March 10, 2022, to March 12, 2022- with each having two sessions of four hours each, with a break of an hour between the two.

DayMorning SessionAfternoon Session
Thursday 10th March 2022 07:00AM – 11:00AM GMT 12:00PM – 4:00PM GMT
Friday 11th March 2022 07:00AM – 11:00AM GMT 12:00PM – 4:00PM GMT
Saturday 12 March 2022 07:00AM – 11:00AMGMT 12:00PM – 4:00PM GMT

The schedule looks identical to that of the Barcelona round. However, there’s a significant change to the broadcasting policy. While the testing in Barcelona was held behind closed doors, with only the summaries and timings coming out at the end of the day, Bahrain will follow an open door policy. That means the fans will have access to live coverage, live timings, and the audience will be allowed on the track itself.

So far, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes, all have topped the timesheets. Hence, in this round, the pressure falls on Red Bull and the defending champion in 2022, Max Verstappen to put on their best and show their contingency for the titles in the 2022 season.
