“All cycles come to an end,” Christian Horner believes that Mercedes’ reign will end
Christian Horner on Mercedes real wing
Mercedes have been the most dominant team in Formula One history in the past decade. The Silver Arrows have won seven consecutive constructors championships, whereas, Lewis Hamilton has managed to win four consecutive world championships.
However, Christian Horner, Red Bull team principal believes that Mercedes domination will come to an end at some point in the future. He believes that all cycles come to an end, and Mercedes’ downfall is unavoidable.
“All cycles come to an end. Mercedes won’t win forever. That is the only thing we can be sure of,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail. I can’t guarantee they won’t win this race but they won’t always win it,” Horner added.
Max Verstappen is driving the wheels off the car: Christian Horner
Red Bull are currently leading the championship by just one point, as Sergio Perez finished P4 at Monaco GP, whereas, Max Verstappen finished P1. The Dutch driver also leads the world championship by four points, as Lewis Hamilton finished P7 at Monte Carlo.
“Max is driving the wheels off the car. There is all this bulls**t about Red Bull are favorites this season. Mercedes are seven-times champions consecutively. Last year their car was dominant, this year’s car is a carry-over from that; yes the regulations affected them a bit, but you can see they still have a quicker car than us,” Horner said.
Christian Horner also added that Max Verstappen has passed Lewis Hamilton four times this season, and has been an attacking driver.
“Max is doing an amazing job to extract as much from it as he is. He is the only one keeping Lewis honest. He just gets in and gives it 100 per cent. He is a bit Mansell-esque in that respect. He’s an attacking driver and doesn’t know any different. That’s what makes him so exciting,” he added.
“He has passed Lewis four times this season, including when he had to hand the place back in Bahrain. He’s not afraid to do that. I don’t see anyone else who could,” Horner added.
