The Dutch GP, home of the current F1 world champion, Max Verstappen, which races at Circuit Zandvoort, North-Holland, Netherlands, is set to welcome more visitors in 2022 due to expansion in seating and relaxation in COVID protocols. The Dutch GP got back on the calendar in 2021 after 26 years, having last raced in 1985. Dutch GP 2022 will be followed by the temple of speed, i.e., Monza, Italy.

The Zandvoort circuit director, Robert van Overdijk, in an interview, said, ” There will be 30,000 to 35,000 extra people. That’s over 105,000 people a day.” The capacity of nearly 100,000 a day can put the track high in yearly attendance as it could host nearly 300,000 fans over the racing weekend.

The track is one of the oldest on the calendar, and F1 will race in September, making it the 15th race of the 2022 season. This will be the second edition of Dutch GP and is contracted only for another race in 2023. However, the seating expansions show good signs for the circuit, showing the possibility of contract extension soon after the 2022 GP.

Zandvoort brought in the huge orange army, launching orange flares and support waves throughout. Going in as the favorite to win the race, Max Verstappen, when crossing the chequered flag, saw the release fireworks on the track’s side went on alongside the then #33 car.

This year too the Red Bull driver can expect tremendous support from the home fans as this time he goes as the F1 world champion. While the wait for the Dutch GP is long, more fans can enjoy watching their homeboy fight out for the championship this season too.
