How did Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari fare with their 2022 F1 challenger unveiling?
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen
The 2022 season of F1 is almost here, with pre-season testing to be held from 23-25 February in Barcelona, Spain. And, ahead of this testing, the teams have started to reveal their new cars.
Amongst the top 3 teams of the 2021 season, Red Bull was the first to display their livery for the 2022 challenger, RB18. The team didn’t display their actual car and are planning to keep it a secret as long as they can.
After Red Bull, Ferrari revealed their F1-75. Many fans believe that this year, Ferrari can be pushing for more than just a single race win and again become a major force to reckon with.
At last amongst the Top 3 were the last year’s Constructors’ Championship winner, Mercedes, who revealed the W13. The launch event also marked the first interview of the Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, post his return to the sport after a break from public life.
Ranking from the best to the worst
1. Ferrari
The oldest team in the sport is all set for a comeback. With the powerful livery, Ferrari has come out all aggressive, and the bold red color sends a message to all the other teams on the grid. The 75 written near the rear is a unique feature. And the black on the rear and the front do make it scary for others.
Ferrari has already become the dark horse for the 2022 season for many fans, and hopefully, the team would return to its glory days. They have a good chance as the new regulations kick in.
2. Mercedes
Mercedes, known as the Silver Arrows, has brought in the silver back. The team’s message is indeed powerful as they intend to use silver and black as their official colors ahead, symbolizing the recent diversity and history of the team, as the team principal Toto Wolff said.
3. Red Bull
The Milton Keynes-based team seems to have the weakest livery amongst the 3. The team didn’t experiment much with the colors and went with the traditional dark tone. And, neither they have presented it on their actual car. A key detail, however, was the team mentioning Honda Racing on the car, as a way of thanking their engine supplier.
