Lando Norris enjoyed an eventful day in Monaco, as he secured his second podium finish of the season on Sunday. The young Briton finished P3, and moved to the third spot in the championship. Valtteri Bottas was placed third before the weekend, but the Mercedes driver failed to complete his race due to a pit-stop mishap. As a result, Lando Norris’ 12 points helped him leapfrog the Finnish driver into the third place.

Lando Norris finished on the fifth spot in the qualifying on Saturday, and would start in the third row alongside Pierre Gasly. However, Charles Leclerc’s gear damage meant he could no longer start the race, which helped Norris gain a position. After 30 laps, Bottas was failed to retire his car, which meant the the Briton gained another spot. Max Verstappen finished P1, whereas, Carlos Sainz secured his first podium finish of the season, after ending the race on P2.

Lando Norris was struggling towards the end of the race, as Sergio Perez was keeping the pressure on the Briton. It seemed as if it was only a matter of time before Perez took the lead from the McLaren driver. On several occasions, the Mexican driver came within striking distance of Lando Norris and also had the DRS to his advantage. But, he could not manage to pass the gritty driver who held his place and finished P3.

I don’t know what to say. It’s always a dream to be on the podium here… It’s special. I’ll cherish it,” said Norris.

Lando Norris did not have a great time in Barcelona a few weeks ago, as he finished P8 and could manage to secure 4 points. The McLaren driver has been among the points in all five races so far, and is the only driver besides, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton to do so.
