“I’m going to use everything I know,” Alex Albon ready to implement Red Bull experience at Williams in 2022

Alex Albon

Alexander Albon, who recently served as a test and reserve driver for Red Bull Racing after previously serving as their works driver is now a Williams Racing driver. The Thai-British driver got released by Red Bull Racing ahead of the 2022 Formula One season. There were no bitter feelings amongst the 25-year-old driver and the Austrian-based racing team and Albon has always been one to speak highly of his previous team where he has served for a solid 3 years from 2019-21.

The 3 years of experience that he has gained from Red Bull Racing is surely one to reckon with. The new Williams driver has been very open about how he’d be looking forward to incorporating the 3 years of prior experience from Red Bull Racing to his new journey at Williams Racing.

The newly launched FW44, which is going to serve as the new car for Albon and teammate Nicholas Latifi for the season of 2022 was unveiled on February 15 earlier this week. Albon drove the new ride for the first time on February 15 at the Silverstone Circuit. This was the very first time he tried out his hand at the Williams car. Before this, he had only tested the car in a simulator, and on driving it for the first time on Tuesday, he already felt a great deal of difference between the Williams car and the Red Bull cars he has driven before.

It is indeed certain that the workings of the two teams are extremely different. Albon has been very open about the fact that it is going to take some considerable time for him to adjust at Williams Racing but his foremost priority here would hands-down be to help the team progress as a whole and improve their ranks on the grid order.

On being asked by The Race how he would apply his experience from Red Bull at Williams, the driver answered, “I’m going to use everything I know. At the same time, I’m not an aerodynamicist. I don’t know what the RB18’s rear wing looks like or anything, I only know how it feels.”
