“I’ve prepared myself to deal with any possible scenario,” Pierre Gasly sets sight on consistent top five finishes in 2022
Pierre Gasly
As the brand new 2022 Formula One season awaits us, AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly was seen talking about how he is “mentally prepared” for “any possible scenario” at the launch of AlphaTauri’s 2022 car AT03.
2022 marks a completely new territory for Formula One with the employment of a different set of technical regulations that emphasizes on the era of downforce through ground-effect technology in order to come up with closer racing in Formula One.
The pre-season testing starts on February 23 and with the clean slate that all the teams and the drivers have ahead of the 2022 season, it won’t be long before they can assess where they stand in comparison to the opposition teams.
“My approach will be the same as the one I adopted last year,” disclosed Pierre Gasly.
“I will be trying to build on the run I had of very good results and to continue to be on top of my game with the car I have.”
“I really hope that this is a year when I can fight at the very front, to finish regularly in the top five and even higher if the car is good enough for that,” he added.
“We must be prepared to deal with whatever situations arise. So, mentally I’ve prepared myself to deal with any possible scenario and personally, I will be pushing the team to always do its best.”
Gasly admits that meeting expectations for 2022 season will be a tough task
At the end of the day, all the teams are trying their level best to improve their position in the precedence order in the grid, and even more so now with the new technical regulations.
However, not all the 10 teams on the grid can enjoy the advantage of the newly implemented regulations and Gasly has commented on how it is rather going to be not the easiest task for the drivers to know what to expect before driving their new cars.
The French driver was also seen saying that, “It will be a big challenge for the teams to work out how to build the best car possible to comply with the new regulations,” added Gasly.
“I hope that it works really well for us. I have no doubts about our team’s abilities and, as of now, they are quite pleased with the work they have done. Like everyone, they’ve been working on it for many months now, but it’s difficult to have an idea of what we can expect until the car goes out on track in Barcelona for the first time. Then we will get an idea of how the car behaves and how we look compared to the others. I’m sure this season will be full of surprises,” the Frenchman continued.
Pierre Gasly secured a podium finish in the 2021 F1 season, as he came in third at the Azerbaijan GP. The Frenchman accumulated his highest points tally in a season in 2021. Now, with a chance to secure a Red Bull seat in 2023, he will look to keep performing well at AlphaTauri.
