The Saudi Arabian GP proved to be an exciting race after several DNFs leading to only 13 drivers finishing the race and intense battles for different positions. In the race, the AlphaTauri’s driver, Pierre Gasly, started on the ninth and finished P8, grabbing four points for the team in the absence of his partner, Yuki Tsunoda.

Pierre Gasly didn’t have the best of the starts to the 2022 season, as his AT03 caught up a fire in Bahrain, which led to the end of his opening race. And despite winning points in the Saudi Arabian GP, the driver’s later comments revealed a medical issue.

Gasly, while speaking to Sky F1, said, “The last 15 laps I’ve never had that much pain, I don’t know what happened in my intestine. The last 10 laps was like getting stabbed every left corner, the most painful laps I’ve had so I don’t know what’s happened.”

He answered, “Quite bad!” when asked how he was feeling at the time of the interview. Speaking of the pain and what was causing it, he added, “I’ve seen him already, we’ll see after, I don’t know what it is, but it was not a nice feeling, it was more like surviving rather than anything else. But we’ll see what’s happened.”

The French driver, as he said himself, struggled to drive following pain in his intestine. While the cause is unknown yet, we hope it’s nothing major, and he feels better soon.

Speaking of the performance in the race, which suffered to the ill-timed safety car caused by Nicholas Latifi’s crash, Gasly said, “Yeah, I mean especially considering we got pretty unlucky with the Safety Car.

“I think we boxed 30 seconds before it came out, so we basically went from whatever position we were to drop to P14. After that, we managed to make our way back to P8, so really happy with that.”

Apart from the singular issue with the car in Bahrain and once in the free practice session in Saudi Arabia, Pierre Gasly has looked in quite a good form this season so far. His practice timings, as well as qualification rounds, have been improving. And if the car remains consistent, we may soon see him on the podium.
