Nürburgring, Hockenheim unable to meet “hefty demands” of F1
Formula One
With just only a few weeks left for the 2022 F1 season to commence, it is to note that this season is absolutely packed with a whopping total of 23 races. However, it is also to be noted that Nürburgring and Hockenheim failed to make the list of races ahead.
Ingo Boder, boss of the Nürburgring race track in Germany had a talk with Motorsport Total where he stated that without crucial private funding, the Nürburgring race track cannot meet the high “demands” of Formula One.
Boder also mentioned in the conversation with Motorsport Total that “We’re talking about very high entry fees and the revenue we can generate. Unfortunately, that always leaves a gap that is far too big for us as a medium-sized company to handle.”
Current serving CEO of Formula One Stefano Domenicali had formerly indicated that he might be open to meeting halfway to incorporate the Nürburgring tracks in the 2022 Formula One schedule, according to Ingo Boder.
Hockenheim track director sees financial obstacles in hosting a race
Domenicali had also said that he wanted to have an open talk regarding the ways by which they could initiate the return of F1 to Germany.
Jorn Teske, one of the directors at the Hockenheim track had the following to say: “As long as many countries are prepared to pay hefty sums of money for the organization of a Formula 1 race that cannot be recovered at all, it is difficult to participate in this concert.”
“The fact that we are interested in having a Formula 1 race take place here is not new. We know which hurdles must be overcome. The financial hurdle with the starting fee is a major obstacle.”
