Pietro Fittipaldi

Pietro Fittipaldi has been making the headlines since the termination of Nikita Mazepin’s contract was rumored. The 25-year old Brazilian driver has been Haas’ reserve driver since 2020 and has been with the team as a testing driver since 2018. And, now that the contract for the Russian driver Mazepin and the sponsor Uralkarli has been announced, Fittipaldi is the first in line to replace Mazepin. Alongside him, the 2021 Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi is rumored to fill in the seat for the Haas F1 team.

Pietro Fittipaldi first tested the F1 car in 2018 for Haas F1 and raced his first GP in 2020, after Romain Grosjean suffered a horrific accident in Bahrain GP of the same year. Since then, he has retained his role as Haas’ reserve driver. The driver has been assured by the Haas team principal Guenther Steiner, who said, as quoted by RaceFans, “If Nikita couldn’t drive, for one or another reason, the first call will go to Pietro. Obviously he’s with us for a few years. And then we will see what we would do next.”

Now, if the driver is selected to replace Nikita Mazepin, he will be looking forward to making the most of it. After his temporary stints in both IndyCar in 2021 for Dale Coyne Racing and earlier in F1, he’ll be on for making his seat permanent and proving his worth.
