“The drivers can obviously be the judge,” Sergio Perez in favour of F1 drivers competing with mild COVID-19 symptoms

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez
Sergio Perez thinks that Formula One racers must be able to race on Covid-19 if their symptoms are not serious. Perez, a Red Bull driver who skipped two races in 2020 after testing positive for Covid-19, believes that acquiring the virus should not inherently disqualify someone from racing. “We should examine if we allow drivers to compete if the symptoms are minimal going future,” said the Mexican driver. Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel recently tested positive for Covid 19 and is set to miss the Bahrain Grand Prix. He’ll be replaced by Nico Hulkenberg for this race.
“The drivers can obviously be the judge, but I think it makes sense to have a discussion.” He forwarded his support towards 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo. Carlos Sainz of Ferrari believes it’s harder to stay focused in or around the racetrack now that Covid-19 regulations have been relaxed around the world.
“I’m not going to lie, it is tiring and it is tough for two years to still do the same things. Some things I got used to it, some things I still struggle with, like to wear the mask at all times,” said recently crowned world champion Max Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez.

Sergio Perez hopes for normalcy to resume soon

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez then proceeded to talk about how he hopes for normalcy to resume on the grid, so that people can get on with with their lives soon enough. He then further stressed on how difficult it gets for drivers to stay disciplined throughout the seasons in such a situation.
“Obviously if I have the chance to fight for bigger things this year, I will need to be but I am in two minds. At the same time I want everyone to move on and to stop thinking about Covid. I’m in two minds, I’m 50-50,” commented Perez. F1 drivers should still be wary around Covid-19,believes Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc.
As things begin to return to normalcy, there will still be precautions that the drivers must undertake. They need to be vigilant when it comes to following Covid protocols and all of these issues because Covid hasn’t vanished overnight. One can’t race if you have Covid, therefore it’s prohibitively expensive. As a result, the drivers must go on with their further proceedings with extreme caution on their end at least.
