‘Not interested,’ Toto Wolff’s stone cold reply when asked about having a conversation with Michael Masi

Toto Wolff and Mercedes have finally broken their silence on the events that occurred at the Abu Dhabi GP on Sunday. The race ended in a dramatic manner, as FIA asked all the lapped cars between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to pass the safety car, setting up a final lap showdown between the two rivals.
As things stand, Mercedes have announced their decision to withdraw their appeal against FIA, as the motorsport body has launched an investigation into its rules and regulations. Toto Wolff was asked about whether he had spoken to Michael Masi after Sunday’s events, to which Wolff made a stone cold reply.
“I am not interested in having a conversation with Michael Masi,” Wolff asserted. The Mercedes team principal stated that the future course of action lies in FIA’s hands. “The FIA needs to decide if they are going to bother going forwards,” he added.
FIA have taken a step in the right direction: Toto Wolff
Toto Wolff added that the motorsport governing body have taken the step in the correct direction after launching an investigation into their rules and regulations. From 2022 onwards, the rules will be much more clearer as opposed to before.
“They [FIA] have taken the right step. The President has convinced the World Motorsport Council to set this commission in place to look at the incidents of the Abu Dhabi race and to avoid any such situation in the future,” said Wolff.
Toto Wolff revealed that it is not only the fans who are not pleased with the FIA decisions throughout the course of the season, but also the stakeholders. “Most stakeholders in the sport share my frustration on the decisions that have been made all throughout the year,” Wolff added.
Toto Wolff confirmed that Lewis Hamilton and himself will not attend the annual FIA ceremony on Thursday evening in Paris. It is quite obvious that Mercedes feel they have been undone by the decision, as Lewis Hamilton failed to win his record eighth championship.
