“We faced two or three big hurdles,” Helmut Marko reveals challenges faced by Red Bull in preparation for 2022 F1 season

Red Bull’s team advisor and an integral part of the team’s success, Helmut Marko, reveals that there have been two to three hurdles in their launching of their new car, the RB18 and also in the preparations after a massive overhaul in regulation.

Although he made big revelations about the hurdles they are facing but he was also very smart to keep other development in the Red Bull camp a well kept secret. The rivalry between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton also has a role to play when it comes to the preparations.

The changes in regulations have come as a surprise for almost every team and they all have looked like a fish out of water for the most part of their preparations. It’ll be very interesting to see who reacts in a fitting manner to the changes and take it in their stride.

“We faced two or three big hurdles [in preparing for 2022],” Marko told Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung.

“It was the biggest change in regulations in the last 15 or 20 years. All the new designs and planning had to be done within the budget cap, and then we were fighting for a World Championship and had to move the new car forward at the same time.”

Although Red Bull has launched their car, Helmut Marko admitted to the fact that this was just like an initial presentation and there’s a lot of work that needs to be done on the machine from till the start of the season.

“That was a presentation for the time being,” Marko said.

“It’s especially important for our partners. The first roll-out will take place later. And until the first race in Bahrain, there will be some changes.

“We don’t reveal everything at the presentation; there are still some updates to come.” as reported by racingnews365.

Despite of the hurdles, Red Bull’s team advisor confirmed that the team is optimistic and ready to compete for both the driver’s and the constructors’ championship and would like to build on the solid foundation and launch an attack on Mercedes who have been dominant in both the championships.
